Everydoggy knows we Ridgebacks have the best sense of humor in the world.

Now days where ever I go people keep saying I’m “becoming a Man”

I was quite worried about that for a while. Don’t get me wrong I love my mom & dad, but I would much rather be a dog. They’re cool and when I was a puppy I thought they were gods, but I’m almost 5. That makes me almost as old as my dad. I know things.

We Ridgebacks are also very fast on our feet I even amaze myself how quickly I can come up with stuff.

When my dad was explaining to me what humans meant by “becoming a man”

7, Zilli & Nellie were out playing. So they didn’t hear the explanation.

Upon their return I told them ” They better sit. I have some terrible news.”

So terrible that if it was out in the open the world as we know it would come to an end.

I could only tell it once. So I will whisper it to 7 and he will whisper it to Nellie, then Nellie will whisper it to Zilli.

and I told them

… When we dogs turn 5 we actually become people. In fact that’s how our parents are our parents. They were dogs first 5 years of their lives and when they turned 5 they became people…

It was too funny. You should’ve been there.

They were so freaked out. I could barely keep myself from busting out laughing. -I had to think about the time I got attacked by bunch of fire ants and my lip was swollen like a hipo’s lip.

Anyways here I took their picture. Heh Heh Heeeeeee.

Here Terrified 7 sharing the secret with Nellie. See her face? She was going “What? What?”

Next Nellie is telling it to Zilli.
You can see Zilli is going in to her “happy place” and 7 can barely keep himself from running away

It was too funny.

But just like any great big brother (and host of course)
I quickly told them:
“No we are never going to be humans. We will always remain dogs.
Eternally loyal, always unconditionally loving, always present in the now, and connected to The Source.”

And they were happy.
Here you can See 7 Laughing out Loud and Nellie making her best people impression

Everydoggy knows leashes are for the dogs who are not trained.

I don’t use them. I don’t like them. I think there should be banned. But there are people who still insisting on tying their dogs to them.

We want Change! We want Change!

Since I send my brother in my place I don’t normally go to work with my dad. I prefer to hang out with mom at the house and make sure the squirells and cats don’t invade our yard. Plus We Ridgebacks think more like investors than employees and I refuse to trade hours for treats. That’s why God gave us little brothers.

But occasionally, if my dad is working with big and physical dog I might go with him.

Last week He was teaching “King” the Great Dane how to walk properly.
I asked King what was sooooo confusing about walking. Why did he pull on the leash? Even when his owners (having only 2 legs) clearly could not keep up with him.
He told me it’s Alpha’s responsibility to lead the pack. Even if his people are jerking on the leash and yelling “No!”
So, what is the best way for humans who insist on tying their dogs to them to have a peaceful walk with dogs on a leash?
Simply put, know the walk begins while you’re at your den. Establish who is alpha before you grab your leash because we (dogs) know we’re going for a walk waaay before you grab the leash because of the shift in your energy. The leash only confirms our knowing.
Expect and accept some excitement. After all, we ARE going for a walk. But wait for the dog to calm down before attaching the leash. Calmness before going out is the first step for calmness outside.
Everydoggy also knows the leaders must lead thru the door (every door to the outside).

Humans seem to not understand, just because you are “holding” a leash doesn’t make you the leader.
A practice my dad teaches his human clients is have their dog “Sit” on both sides of every door. Ex. human puts their dog to “Sit” at the door, human goes out and calls the dog, and as soon as the dog is on the other side of the doorway an immediate “Sit” command follows. (Every door! Regardless of how many doors there are to the outside world).

Anyways, I remember when I was a puppy thinking in my crate about the same thing, but I thought it’d be easier if my dad to open the door when I need to go outside than I find a catttt…yuck….eeck….. to blame it on.

One day I noticed my dad was ringing the bell he hung by the door every time we went out to potty.

I thought to myself he is already trained to open the door after ringing the bell,

let me see if he opens the door if I ring the bell.

Did he not only open the door he was so happy I rang the bell he called mom and bragged about how I rang the bell and he opened the door and we went out to potty …. [ I just rang the bell instead of him]….

Ever since that day If I need to go out to potty I just ring the bell and whoever is near opens the door for me.

It also works when I need to spend some Djembe time in the back yard to smell stuff.

I am happy to report because I both my mom and dad were trained to open the door after I ring the bell I have never once had to pee or poop in the house.

As you can see in this (my) puppy picture I was happy.

Almost every day after our walk my dad leaves our den. When I look out the window I see most of the people leave their dens too. they are almost gone for the entire day. Then after my afternoon nap and after my mom leaves my dad returns smelling weird . Then after my evening nap my mom returns smelling funny also.My cousin Arthur told me his mommies do the same thing….. Weird.

I asked my dad why him and my mom go away for so long and not nap with me in our den all day. Since we already walked and peed in the woods it seems like a waste of day being away all day long and not to nap.

He told me both him and mom go to work.

I told him that didn’t sound right.

Because my friend Elvis the Great Dane is a working breed and he stays at home all day long.

My dad told me because humans have thumbs they have to work for a piece of paper called money. Then they take that paper to other humans to exchange it for treats.

That’s probably why it takes all day to work.

I told my dad it’d be easier to go to the guy with the treats, show him his thumbs get treats and come home and nap.

He told me he’ll give it a try.

Thank god I don’t have thumbs

Just when my dad was telling me anything in life can be a lesson for the seeker, we came accross this sign.

It says to go straight and to turn left. Anydoggy could simply dismiss it as yet another sign for humans making things more confusing. Which we all know is true.

We Ridgebacks like to put to practice what we learn right away. So I started investigating.

And came to a quick understanding of how the life works.

There are many ways to get where you are going, and the shortest way may not always be obvious, and signs could be confusing, what you must do is smell.

That’s why god gave us 2 ears, 2 eyes, but just 1 nose.

When I shared my discovery with my dad he begun to laugh, and that’s always great.

My dad is the coolest person I know. He knows almost everything there is to know about life. And he loveeeees talking to people about life and he even teaches others how to live a balanced life.

It must be hard to live a balanced life with only 2 legs. But he does it. Everyone loves to hear him speak. They invite him to places, pay him money just so they learn how to have a balanced life.

We Ridgebacks are naturally balanced dogs. We have 4 legs and a long tail. So we’re never out of balance, and of course it doesn’t hurt to have a cool dad like mine either. Because I get to listen to him practice his talks at the woods.

And now I have this blog I can share them with you.

So far what learned about happy and balanced life is flexibility is the key. My dad says people must be flexible about life and about themselves. That explains why I am always happy.

I am flexible.

Here is the proof.

We Ridgebacks are the smartest dogs with insatiable need for learning and figuring things out.

Think about it. My great-grand-parents used to hunt lions. Most humans have never even seen a lion in real life.

Anyways.

So we are at the park, someone (quite possibly a squirel or even a lion lover) made this sign to somehow restrain dogs.

I thought it was hilarious.

First of all everydoggy knows the leashes are for humans to keep up with their dogs and know which way to go.

Second of all only humans are affraid of empty threats. We dogs only live in the now, so we have no concept of what humans call as future. And while we’re living in the now if there is a threat there are only 2 options Fight or Flight.

As you can see from this picture I decided to call the bluff wait for the whoever (quite possibly a squirel or a lion lover) put this silly sign up.

But Nobody showed up.

The win once again goes to Ridgebacks.

Couple nights ago my Auntie Joni (youngest of mom’s litter mates) left her puppy Paxton at our house.

Couple nights ago my Auntie Joni (youngest of mom’s litter mates) left her puppy Paxton at our house.

I thought he could hang with me like Arthur does, but didn’t happen.

My dad and mom didn’t let me show him the ropes and rules of the back yard.

It seems all of my aunties have small dogs (

I always though I was always big but my dad reminded me I was little when I was born, and told me I should be more aware of my awesome power and be gentle with smaller dogs. Just when he said that I remembered he was telling me about my powers and importance of being gentle.

Lucky for me my mom had taken our picture right at that time, and when I saw the picture I remembered the whole conversation.

We Ridgebacks have fantastic memories and never forget things, but it’s always better to have visual reminders.
